All About Us

What is The "It's Darling!" Fair?

The "It's Darling!" Fair is a unique shopping experience, held three times a year in the centre of the beautiful City of Bath.

"It's Darling!" aims to bring together the best of independent vintage sellers - from fashions to homewares and everything in between, along with talented independent designers. At a typical "It's Darling!" Fair you will find vintage china, beautiful handmade jewellery and accessories, handmade fashions and art and lots more.

The very first "It's Darling!" Fair was held at The Guildhall in Bath in July 2010 and was a great success, with talented local designer Nicky Snow showcasing her brand new collection, along with a tea room run by Bath's 'Country Cupcakes', and creative workshops by 'The Makery'.

As we move into 2011, we will also be welcoming The Secret Tea Party Cafe, as well as a Vintage Hair and Beauty Salon, allowing you to truly embrace the vintage experience!

Who is behind “It’s Darling!”?

The “It’s Darling!” Fair is organised by two of Bath’s female entrepreneurs – Mrs Stokes Vintage China and Purple Sparkle Crafts. Catherine Stokes (aka Mrs Stokes) has a regular Saturday stall at Green Park Station Market and Purple Sparkle Crafts aka Rebecca Amesbury is candle and soapmaker with a thriving online business.

The pair met at Green Park Station Market when Rebecca was browsing Mrs Stokes’ stall in the hunt for cups and saucers in which to make her teacup candles. They start chatting and agreed that high rents in the middle of Bath make it prohibitive for small independent crafters and traders to reach shoppers in the city centre. They also agreed that while Green Park Station Market is a fabulous and supportive place for new businesses, it is still building its profile in the city and still somewhat of a “best-kept secret.”

So Mrs Stokes and Purple Sparkle Crafts decided to bring as many creatives together in one place in the centre of the city, to shine a spotlight on the talent and innovation in Bath and the creative community in the South West and beyond.
